I have a habit of asking pizza restaurants that I fall in love and get to know where the owners absolute favorite pizza comes from. I ... You get the point I LOVE pizza. Demaio was astounding. I will travel back to Bilbao just to go here for pizza... And to end. I have a collection of tests... The Tetlow test is would you eat two meals in a row at a restaurant. I did the next best thing as I was leaving the next day. I cancelled dinner plans and took a takeaway pizza... They serve traditional pizzas and pie type pizzas. The pie pizza was off the charts. Can't recommend highly enough."

"Excellent pizza with a lot of flavour and right Neapolitan texture. We did not have a reservation but they accommodated us in 30 minutes in early afternoon. It is one of the Top50 pizza places in Europe. After trying many of them, we believe Demaio serves the best pizza in Europe outside of Italy. Truly amazing pizza!"

"If you also try to visit as many top 50 pizza restaurants when you travel in Europe I will make sure to visit Demaio in Bilbao. Maybe it should be much higher on the list even though they are on place 17 in 2024. My opinion is that it is the best pizza I have tasted this year."

"I thought this place would be amazing based on the reviews but it was honestly just okay. The focus is on pizza and they have a small choice of beer and wines. It is hard to get a table and they are generally very busy but the service is actually very good. The pizza crust is thin and the sauce is good, but nothing special. I would recommend the buffalo mozzarella pizza, second one on the menu."

"One doesn’t normally link the phrase melt-in-your-mouth with pizza dough, right? Unless you’re eating at Demaio’s in Bilbao where the phrase is then very appropriate! Not a great pizza fan normally but would reconsider my stand if I lived in Bilbao"
